What is granite?

Granite is a hard and durable stone with excellent properties that make it suitable for use in both domestic and commercial environments. It is formed when magma bonds with other rock under great heat and pressure over many thousands of year.

We have used natural stone for hundreds of years. More commonly for exterior construction, now we use it for decoration in our homes, specifically in our kitchen with granite worktops, bathroom marble vanity tops, travertine flooring and granite fire hearths.

Granite or marble worktops are very easy to look after, so long as you do not abuse them with caustic cleaning goods or general miss use. They will loose none of there former splendour from when they were installed.

What is quartz?

Quartz is a combination of the latest technology with surprising colours to create slabs.

Its superior resistance, exceptional endurance and stunning beauty, make it the perfect choice for worktops & islands in both kitchens and bathrooms. Its minimal absorption, due to its low porosity makes it a hygienic & easy-to-clean surface which is highly resistant to stains, scratches, abrasion, acids, oils and liquids.

Quartz has a long-lasting shine which will maintain its beauty for years.

How can I look after my granite or quartz worktops?

All granite, marble and quartz requires is a clean with soap and water and buffing off with a soft cloth. There are also some cleaners which can be purchased from supermarkets or DIY stores specifically for natural stone. Granite, marble and quartz will require periodic surface sealing to ensure the surface is not permeated by liquid.

All clients are given a care sheet once the installation work has been completed, but you’re always welcome to contact us if you have any further questions.

Do you manufacture your worktops from templates?

Yes, we do. Although some small worktops can be fabricated from measurements.

Can you price my kitchen from a drawing or plan?

Yes, we provide a detailed estimate based on your plan providing the sizes are clearly marked.

What information do you require to give me an estimate?

All we need are the sizes of the kitchen worktops, the colour of the granite, quartz or marble and whether you are using an under mounted or over mounted sink. You may also require up stands, back splash for a cooker or window sill. We can advise you on all aspects of this.

What thickness is the granite/quartz worktop for a kitchen work surface?

The thickness of our granite/quartz is 30mm or 20mm, and can be used on work tops, islands upstands, back splases, and windowsills. You always have a choice.

Do you offer a full template and fit service?

Yes we do. Our surveyor will take any necessary templates and measurements and return them to our workshop. The worktops in granite/quartz will be manufactured and the fitting will take place within 7 days.

How long does it take from ordering the worktops to having them fitted?

Using our bespoke worktop range, we require 7 working days from receipt of your signed order, contract and deposit, subject to stock availability.

If the granite or quartz is in stock, we will be able to provide a quicker service.

Do you always need to survey the kitchen?

No. If your kitchen is straightforward we are happy to work from your basic measurements and make some amendments on site.

Hob and sink cut-outs can easily be made on site.

What can I expect on the fitting day?

Our team will arrive at an arranged time. Initially they will check the dimensions and template any fixtures, such as pipe work, hobs or sinks.

They will then cut the stone to size and polish any exposed ends, before fitting your new worktops.

Is there anything I should tell you before the fitting day?

Yes. It’s really important for us to know if you live in a flat or an unusual building. As granite is solid and heavy, we may need to consider how we will get the granite into your home if we have to negotiate tight stairwells, small doorways with tight turns and steps. Likewise, if there are any parking restrictions, it’s helpful for us to know this in advance.

Can you really cut granite on site?

Yes we can. Our fitting teams carry all necessary cutting and polishing equipment with them. They leave the site clean and tidy on completion. If we can’t cut on site, we will make the worktops in our workshop.

Visit our Granite and Quartz Cutting page for more information.

Can you actually make a set of drainage grooves and a sink cut out on site?

Yes we can. We have very experienced stonemasons who hand finish any intricate work. Whether it is in our workshop or on site, the process is the same and the finish is excellent.

Does the cut on site make a lot of mess?

If worktops are being made on site, naturally there will be some dust. However, our fitting teams will always sweep up and the off-cut stone will be removed. Please note, all the work is carried out outside on the drive way so your house will not get full of dust.

Please get in contact should you have any further questions.

Do you take a deposit?

Yes. We take a 50% deposit with your order and the balance is payable on the day of completion.

Do you have after sales support if there are any installation problems?

Yes. If you have any issues, we will send our after sales manager to the site to make a report, then we will then agree a plan to completely satisfy you and remedy any issues. This will be done within a week of the installation.

Do you offer accounts to trade companies?

No, in order to keep our costs low, our terms of payment are full balance on completion.

Can stone be used in the bathroom?

Yes. You can use marble, granite, travertine and quartz on the walls or floors of shower cubicles and bath surrounds. The Quartz range also comes in 12mm thick, which is ideal for complete wall covering without all the grouting of tiles.
